On April 13, 2017, the Government of Canada introduced the Cannabis Act, which aims to legalize recreational cannabis across the country. The Rapid Response Team of OMSA’s Political Advocacy Committee has been busy working on advocacy relating to the Cannabis Act. Click here to learn more about the current state of the legislation, OMA recommendations and OMSA’s goals.
We encourage all OMSA members to complete the OMA survey to actively provide your perspective on cannabis legalization and its appropriate regulation. The survey is due by September 19, and the link has previously been emailed to you. If you would like more information, or would like to become involved with the Ontario Political Advocacy Committee, please contact Vivian Tam at representation@omsa.ca, or your local VP External.
Officially founded in May 1974 during the Ontario Medical Association’s AGM, the Student Section of the OMA was started using the acronym “OMSA” (short for Ontario Medical Students Association) in 2004.
