Day of Action is preceded by a training weekend to help medical students develop advocacy skills and practice speaking with policymakers and the media. This team&#8217;s efforts focus on organizing event logistics for DoA and the preceding training weekend, developing OMSA\u2019s advocacy platform based on the selected topic, and coordinating meetings with MPPs.<\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Longitudinal Government:<\/span><\/p><p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">The main goal of the Longitudinal Government Team is to pursue multi-year, long-term advocacy actions following the OMSA Long-Term Advocacy Plan 2025\u20132028. This plan includes topics identified through the annual advocacy priorities survey and past Day of Action themes which are approved by OMSA council. The Longitudinal Government Team is dedicated to ensuring that advocacy efforts are sustained across successive cohorts of medical students, recognizing that meaningful political change often requires more than a single term. By maintaining pressure on key policy issues and government stakeholders, the committee aims to drive lasting change in alignment with OMSA&#8217;s advocacy goals.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Policy, Response, and Implementation Team (PRIT):<\/span><\/p><p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">The Policy &amp; Response &amp; Implementation Team aims to establish OMSA as an eminent and knowledgeable voice on the Ontario health and policy landscape. This team has two sub-committees. <br \/>Policy Research sub-committee: focuses on working with medical students to publish policy reports or position papers with recommendations on a particular advocacy issue. <br \/>Response &amp; Implementation sub-committee: focuses on liaising with authors of past policy papers to support their efforts to act on the recommendations outlined in their papers. Tasks include maintaining, improving, and utilizing OMSA\u2019s websites including: omsa.ca, to execute our strategic vision. Applicants do not need technical skills when applying. Each member of the design team will be given an OMSA portfolio to oversee and work in collaboratoin with. <\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">Design:<\/span><\/p><p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">The Design Team is responsible for designing logos, infographics, and assorted promotional materials as needed for initiatives spearheaded by various OMSA portfolios. Each member of the design team will be given an OMSA portfolio to oversee and work in collaboratoin with. All team members should have some familiarity and experience with graphic design\/ creating graphics. <\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">Marketing and Engagement:<\/span><\/p><p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">OMSA\u2019s marketing and engagement team is searching for applicants that have a unique vision for OMSAs brand and wish to exercise their creative freedom on an institutional level. The committee is focused on finding passionate individuals that will push the boundaries beyond the typical \u201ccopy and paste\u201d approach to information distribution. The Marketing and Engagement Committee is responsible for, but not limited to, call for submissions and production of the monthly OMSA Communique, sharing OMSA events and promotions via OMSA\u2019s social media platforms, responding to comments and questions on OMSA\u2019s social media platform, and using OMSA\u2019s social media platforms to share opportunities and news relating to Ontario medical students. Also oversees the the Student Highlights Team which is responsibilities include, but are not limited to sharing Ontario student highlights and initiatives. The team\u2019s focus is to share and highlight the initiatives of Ontario medical students to help empower students and to spread awareness of initiatives across the province. They are also responsible for leading the creation of OMSA content. The OMSA Wellness Committee organizes and executes this retreat, with the goal of providing students from different medical schools with the opportunity to relax and connect with each other through activities like skiing, campfires, and movie nights. <\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">Mentorship:<\/span><\/p><p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">The OMSA Mentorship Program aims to establish one-on-one relationships between Ontario medical students and physicians and residents based on professional, clinical, and personal interests. The goal of our committee is to provide direct support, encouragement, and mentorship that is specifically tailored to students\u2019 needs and goals. <\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">Wellness Engagement and Programming (WEPS):<\/span><\/p><p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">The WEPS committee develops evidence based wellness initiatives for medical students throughout Ontario. These initiatives are aimed at promoting self-care; wellness education; and prioritizing physical, mental, and emotional health. Past projects have included board game nights, resident panels, and Perspectives in Medicine, a creative writing and art platform.<br \/><\/span><\/p><p>\u00a0<\/p><p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">Mental Health Research:<\/span><\/p><p><span data-sheets-root=\"1\">The Mental Health Research Committee creates resources, plans research studies, and conducts literature reviews that seek to improve the mental health and wellbeing of Ontario medical students.
