DeGroote School of Medicine, Iskren Kantchev, 23, and Shane Daniell, 24, tragically passed away as a result of a motor vehicle accident. Although they had only known their classmates for a short time, they had both become integral members of their year and have been missed greatly. <span class=\"scayt-misspell-word\" data-scayt-word=\"Iskren\" data-wsc-lang=\"en_US\" data-wsc-id=\"lvvtn6fpyqqzrfwj7\">Iskren<\/span> was known for always helping others when he had the opportunity to and as an incredibly <span class=\"scayt-misspell-word\" data-scayt-word=\"kind-hearted\" data-wsc-lang=\"en_US\" data-wsc-id=\"lvvtn6fmso1psgxs2\">kind-hearted<\/span> young man. Shane had been known to be charismatic and sociable, striking up instant friendships with his whole class. We wish to <span class=\"scayt-misspell-word\" data-scayt-word=\"honour\" data-wsc-lang=\"en_US\" data-wsc-id=\"lvvtn77llvrh85r4h\">honour<\/span> the memory of these two bright and promising young men whose time was cut short through this written scholarship.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"rtejustify\"><strong>Guidelines:\u00a0<\/strong>OMSA aims to foster conversation about the changing needs of health care. This essay contest is open to pre-clerkship students enrolled full-time in an Ontario medical school. All works must be previously unpublished and relate to the specified theme. Essay submissions must be a maximum of 500 words. Submissions can be sent electronically to applications@omsa.ca. The winner will receive a $500 Ontario Leaders Scholarship to be announced at OMSW and their article will be published in Scrub-In.<\/p>\r\n<p class=\"rtejustify\"><strong>Theme:<\/strong> Consider the unique healthcare needs of Ontario.
