Fall Back

I used to get so excited for the start of Daylight Savings Time. Similarly I would hate the end of it each fall.

Afterall, the addition of an extra hour to each day meant longer nights out with friends and warmer weather overall. And the shorter and darker days seemed to clamp down on fun like a frigid fist.

But medical school has shown me that perhaps I was too hasty to scorn the reseting of an hour each autumn. While it does bring the evening that much sooner, it also means the sun can rise a bit earlier, and believe me, I need all the help I can get to wake up during those winter days.

There's also one small extra bonus too with the whole "Fall back" business. It means the Sunday it happens, I get to enjoy at least 1 extra hour of sleep. That is so key.

...yet knowing me I'll probably still squander that extra amount of sleep somehow staying up even later.
