The past weekend was a busy one. Not only did the CFMS hold their National Lobby Day in Ottawa to raise discussion towards a national Pharmacare plan, but the OMA was also hosting their annual General Council meeting in Toronto during the same weekend.

This weekend was filled with updates within the OMA, as well as the opportunity to pass motions on how to guide the actions of the Association in the future.

As the Section of Medical Students on the OMA, OMSA also put two motions on the floor.

AND THEY WERE PASSED!

  • "That the OMA support the recommendation of the OMA sections of Medical Students that the Ontario government provide financial support to fund community based food distribution programs."

  • "That the OMA support the recommendation of the OMA sections of Medical Students to the Government of Ontario to establish a Student Nutrition Program that includes all publicly funded elementary and secondary schools in Ontario."

This is very exciting and a great achievement as OMSA is committed this year to work towards combating the levels of childhood obesity and develop a stronger nutrition strategy.

Great work to all the students, particularly the OPAC, who developed these motions for us to bring to the floor!
