Reflecting on Wellness Retreat 2014

Waitlists seem to be the story of my life. Waitlisted for an earlier appointment, waitlisted to get into medical school, and of course, waitlisted for the Wellness retreat. But, when I finally received the offer via email the week of the retreat I didn't know what to make of it...

Considering that I don't respond very well to change and last minute plans, I was both excited and stressed.

The "Vitals" Student Wellness Project

In medical school it is easy to get caught up in the learning and involvement, not taking time to care for yourself. The culture is also one of toughness, so there is apprehension in asking for help or using the resources available. When you do look for resources, it can be difficult to find them, clicking through the many layers of university websites or sifting through all the community resources.

In the last decade, there has been a cultural shift promoting the ideology of physician, heal thyself. But where do we as medical students fit into this paradigm?
