As a first-generation immigrant who mostly grew up in Canada, I
have come to deeply appreciate the emphasis we place on wellness
and the strides we take towards it. Being medical students during
the COVID pandemic has especially taken its toll on all of us and
left us craving interaction and better ways to take care of
ourselves. I am going to target medical student wellness through
creative initiatives that focus on nutrition, physical health,
As a restaurant owner and big foodie myself, I find cooking, and
more importantly the eating that follows, to have such a big
impact on my energy levels. After all, good food = good mood! In
this role, I am going to streamline healthy, accessible,
affordable, and delicious recipes to all medical students in a
monthly newsletter and/or giant cookbook.
Similarly, I wish to extend this initiative towards fitness and
provide accessible, fun, at-home exercises to promote movement
and some much-needed endorphin and serotonin release for us
Drawing upon my previous leadership roles, I will work hard with
my subcommittees to connect students within and between schools.
I will facilitate friendships and some friendly rivalries through
many inter-school activities and games comprising of trivia,
Codenames, and Jackbox TV games to name a few.
I understand that wellness presents itself in many ways and will
undoubtedly remain flexible in my approach and receptive to the
students’ needs so that I can tailor my initiatives to best serve
