The Ontario Medical Student Association is hosting its annual election for the 2021-22 term! This will occur concurrently with the OMSA Annual General Meeting (AGM) which is being held virtually on Sunday May 16th.

The following positions are all for a one year term:

  • Vice President of Student Affairs
  • Vice President of Advocacy
  • Vice President of Communication
  • Vice President of Education
  • Vice President of Operations
  • Vice President of Finance
  • Vice President of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

The following position is a two year term:

  • President-Elect

Election Information: OMSA elections will be held in concert with our virtual AGM on May 16th, 2021.

Nominees are asked to submit their nomination by April 30, 2021. A complete nomination will include a 250 word platform and a short video. It is optionl to include a photo. Videos for President and President-Elect should be no longer than 120 seconds, videos for all other positions should be no longer than 90 seconds. 

Nominee’s platform and video will be posted on OMSA website and circulated to Ontario medical students for a 2 week period (April 30 to May 16). OMSA will not share any specific content regarding nominees on social media.

On May 16th, each nominee will be invited to call in and answer questions from AGM delegates and current OMSA Council members. All nominees will have a 3 minute question period.  Following question period voting will be done virtually by a ranked ballot. As per OMSA by-laws, each school will have 2 votes for each position, the outgoing officer will also vote for a total of 13 votes per position. Nominees are not permitted to campaign during the OMSA election period. The only content which will be permitted is the 250 word platform and video, to be shared by OMSA. Nominees are not permitted to contact medical students for the purposes of campaigning, nor should they personally advertise their nomination or permit other students to advertise their nomination.
