Reimagining Medical Education: OMSA EDID Conference

About

Reimagining Medical Education: Centering equity, diversity, inclusion and decolonization (EDID) in curricula is a half-day conference held in the spring of every year. It brings together Ontario medical students, educators, and administrators who work in EDID roles to identify EDID gaps in the curriculum, showcase grassroots efforts for curriculum reform and discuss solutions. The goal is to create a platform to connect students doing grassroots advocacy across Ontario, and offer opportunities for dialogue between students and faculty.

This event is organized by The Ontario Medical Students Association (OMSA) Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Committee, which is made up of students from medical schools across the province who center social justice and anti-oppression at the core of their roles. Questions or concerns can be directed to edi@omsa.ca.

Learner Showcase

As part of this conference, we organize a Learner Showcase where students, either individually or as a group will be able to deliver 5-10 minute presentations on a grassroots EDID effort they have undertaken to reform medical curricula. We encourage applications from collectives across Canada who are not part of formal working groups. Stay tuned for our Call for Submissions in early Spring 2024.
