Interdisciplinary Student Research Conference on Healthcare

Summary: The Interdisciplinary Student Research Conference on Healthcare (ISRCH) (being planned for February 2018) will serve as a platform for candid discussion and learning between various healthcare professionals and those in training, centred around improving patient care in Ontario. This conference aims to discuss recent advances in research from each discipline by hosting oral and poster presentations in the morning, leading to meaningful discussions. The afternoon will be filled with various hands-on workshops pertaining to several areas of patient care from various disciplines, including communication, ethics, and practical skills. We hope to make this conference an annual event where healthcare professionals and students can learn and discuss ways to work together to improve patient care in Ontario.​

Who: The conference is being organized by a group of medical students at the University of Ottawa, in collaboration with other faculties and programs. Students and professionals from various disciplines will be attending the conference. Examples include, but are not limited to: medicine, nursing, physiotherapy, psychology, business, law, arts and humanities, social sciences.​

What: Education, Interprofessional Collaboration​

When: Yearly. The inaugural conference is being planned for February 2018.​

Where: The University of Ottawa.​

How: The conference is the brainchild of a group medical students at the University of Ottawa who wanted to find an innovative way to foster interprofessional collaboration, with the aim of finding ways to work together to improve patient care in Ontario. The project has been well received by the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Ottawa. Planning is well under way, and we look forward to welcoming attendees in the coming year.​
